St Kilda | BBQ Review

St Kilda, VIC

We ventured to St Kilda to suss out the best (and worst) spots for a BBQ.

The Ultimate Guide to Public BBQ Spots in St Kilda

Hello, BBQ enthusiasts! We at MeatInAPark.com.au are taking you on a culinary journey to the heart of St Kilda, Melbourne.

Catani Gardens

Our first stop is Catani Gardens, a unique park with an enormous grass area and stunning landscape. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. The park is dog-friendly, but remember to keep your furry friends on a leash. There's a cool playground right next to the BBQ area, which consists of two sets of two barbies with large working spaces. However, there's no undercover seating area, so be prepared for Melbourne's unpredictable weather.

Unfortunately, we had some trouble getting the hot plates hot enough for our BBQ. After some trial and error, we discovered that the hot plates do heat up, but they take a really long time. Considering this, we give these BBQs a snag rating of 1 out of 10.

St Kilda Foreshore and Rotary Park

Next, we ventured to St Kilda Foreshore and Rotary Park. The foreshore offers plenty of benches and water fountains, and if you're lucky, you might even spot some penguins at the end of the pier. Near Luna Park, there's a neat and simple BBQ spot at Rotary Park, complete with a cool playground.

Marina Reserve

Our favourite spot, however, is Marina Reserve. This park offers plenty of parking (though it's ticketed), bins, a toilet block near the BBQ area, and a fantastic playground that kids will love. Skaters and scooter enthusiasts will be thrilled with the skate park, and there's even a dog beach for your four-legged friends.

The BBQ area at Marina Reserve is partially covered, providing some sunshade, but it won't protect you from the rain. The grassy area is perfect for kids and dogs to run around, and the BBQs here are top-notch. We give this BBQ a snag rating of 8 out of 10.
