AYLMORE MINERAL SPRING

Public BBQ

The Aylmore Mineral Springs, with a rich history dating back to 1934, were once home to the town's first swimming pool, notable for being the second inland pool in the state. Fed by the mineral springs, the pool was a popular spot until its closure in 1968 due to health by-laws. The springs, still flowing at about 1 liter per second, are known for their high iron content, which interestingly colors the water and the wetlands below, attracting various native birds and wildlife. Local folklore adds to the intrigue, narrating a tale of two warriors whose battle site turned into the springs, stained red by their blood, but actually colored by iron. While the pool has since moved to a new location, the heritage track remains visible, leading from the wetlands across a fallen tree trunk to a sealed cycle track/walkway back to town.
