Public BBQ

The Pass, located in Cape Byron State Conservation Area, offers two BBQ locations with picnic tables, one near the beach and the other in an open grassy space called Palm Valley. It is a quiet and picturesque spot, ideal for family gatherings with access to a beach and surrounded by nature. Visitors enjoy the calm waters, good for swimming and surfing, as well as the stunning views from Fisherman's lookout. Facilities include showers, toilets, and parking, although parking can be limited and paid. The area is also close to a cafe and a lighthouse, providing additional recreational options.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Byron council.

Aussie public BBQs are simple to use. Majority of sites listed on this website are gas or electric BBQs. Simply press the button and it will turn on for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes).

We do also list wood fired BBQs on this site, so check the above descriptions and photos to be prepared.

You should first check with Byron council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
