The Sizzling Sorrento Beach BBQ: A Review
It's time to turn up the heat! We recently ventured over to the renowned Sorrento Beach in Perth, WA, to put their public barbecues to the test. With the stunning backdrop of the Indian Ocean, and the sizzling aroma of barbecued food filling the air, we set out to experience all that this public barbecue spot has to offer. From easy parking to lush settings and, of course, the quality of the barbecues, we've got it all covered in this comprehensive review. So, grab your tongs, it's time to dive in!
Location, location, location
One of the main highlights of the Sorrento Beach BBQ area is the ample parking. Whether you're heading over to the shops at Hillary's Boat Harbour or planning a day at the park, there's a spot for you. And if you're using public transport or cycling, the area has you covered with a conveniently located bus stop and numerous bike racks.
Facilities Galore
Sorrento Beach has not one, but four barbecues on the strip. Each one comes complete with lighting, shade, and bins. If you're planning a group gathering, you'll be happy to know there are also seating areas adjacent to the grills. There are two central barbecues with an especially generous seating area at the end of the stairs. However, keep in mind that if you're using the barbecue on the Hillary's side, the toilet block is a bit of a walk away. But rest assured, the amenities are top-notch.
Lush Settings
The setting at Sorrento Beach is perfect for a day out with its expansive grassy areas. With more grass than you could ever need, it's an ideal spot for picnics or just to kick back and relax. While the area is mostly lush, there is one small patch of dry grass. So, keep in mind that your furry friends will have to stay at home as there are dog prohibition signs around the area.
Water Fun and More
Feeling a bit adventurous? Take a dip in the ocean! There's a lifeguard tower on duty, so remember to swim between the flags. Marine lovers, keep your eyes peeled for the Australian giant cuttlefish that frequent the shoreline. After your swim, take advantage of the showers to rinse off the salt and quench your thirst at the nearby water fountains.
Cookin' Time
Now, let's get down to business – the barbecuing. The grills are easy to operate. Press the button for six seconds until you hear a beep and wait for it to heat up. Jesse reports that while the barbecues were in good working order, the hot plates could use a bit of a clean. Based on these factors, he gave the barbecues a respectable "snag rating" of seven out of ten.
Summing Up
From the parking to the amenities, and most importantly, the barbecues, Sorrento Beach offers a fantastic public barbecue experience. Next time you're in Perth, be sure to check it out. And remember, if you have any questions or suggestions about public barbecues, we'd love to hear them. See you at the next hot plate!
